Why is my network slow?
Many businesses encounter a common pitfall with network cabling: using office desks as makeshift hubs by connecting multiple users directly to network switches.
For Cat6 or newer installations covering short distances, local switches may not pose significant issues, unless VPNs are required. However, for Cat5e networks, relying on this setup can severely impact uplink and downlink speeds to core switches, especially when multiple users' data is funneled through a single cable.
While Cat5e theoretically supports 1Gbps connections, real-world performance can fall far short, often struggling to reach 100-200mbps over distances of 50m. When this bandwidth is divided among 8-16 users on a local switch, performance suffers.
Custom Cabling
For customers seeking unique cabling solutions or a departure from the ordinary, we've got you covered. Whether it's custom-colored data cables to meet building standards or specific outlet styles, we can tailor our services to your needs.
Need a neat finish? We offer custom-made patch cables to achieve just that. Working in industrial environments? We install armored Ethernet cables for durability. Dealing with outdoor dead zones? Count on us for reliable WiFi point installations. And when it's time for a cabinet upgrade, we pride ourselves on meticulous changes and renewals. Say goodbye to old, small, and messy units—we'll replace them with something more suitable and ensure a tidy, well-organized setup.
Fibre Networking
Fibre Optic Installation
Fibre optics are essential for businesses with multiple data cabinet locations, offering high bandwidth and surpassing copper networking limitations. Our range includes single-mode OS1, OS2, and multi-mode OM2, OM3, and OM4 options, with tailored solutions for machinery endpoints. Fusion-spliced for reliability, our installations seamlessly bridge data cabinets and machinery.
Fibre Optic Testing
Cheshire CCTV & Data Services offers thorough fibre optic testing using Fluke cable analysers. Whether for new or existing installations, we pinpoint issues like reflections or bandwidth constraints. From damaged ferrules to cable wear from bending or external factors like impact or rodents, our OTDR testing identifies faults precisely, guiding effective repairs.
Fibre Optic Repairs
Dealing with a broken fibre optic link can range from inconvenient to disastrous. Even tough ISP and OSP cables can be damaged by rodents, collapsed ducts, or excavation accidents. Using advanced OTDR technology, we locate and repair damaged sections with precision. We can splice cores and retest to standards. If repair isn't possible, we offer quotes for replacement, including options like armored fibre or rerouting for durability.
